Solar Blues is a synthesis of several different processes. The printing technique I use is called cyanotype, which is one of the earliest forms of photography. It is also called blueprinting or sun printing because the treated fabric is exposed directly to the sun to make the print.

I use the blueprinting process to reproduce my cut paper designs. These are marvelously intricate peices which feature human and wildlife images blooming in snowflake style symetry.

After hours or days of cutting a paper design I can print it any number of times to make soft cotton bandanas, sofa pillows, tote bags, etc.
